How to unassign/remove fobs from keyrings

Unassigning / Removing Fobs from Keyrings

There are three main scenarios when you would wish to unassign fobs from Keyrings in Keyzapp

Lost or broken fobs

If keytags become too worn to use, or lost, they can be unassigned manually


Don't forget to remove the damaged or worn fob, and to attach a new one!


From the Keyrings page, select Change Keyfob




On the next screen you will have the opportunity to record the reason for removal



Click Remove and you will be taken to the assign a fob screen

If the old fob is not usable, uncheck the box.  The fob ID will be added to a report to make ordering new ones easier.











Long-term issue

When you sign out keys via Keyzapp, you can do so on long-term or short-term issue.






Short-term issue is for regular activities such as viewings, maintenance, etc. Details on how to do this can be found here.

Long-term issue is generally only relevant to lettings agents where keys are signed out to tenants for months or years.
Whilst the fob can be removed for reuse, you will still want to track the keys in Keyzapp. Please refer to step-by-step instructions here .

Archive

When keys are being permanently returned to their owner (e.g. giving management keys back to a landlord, handing over all sets of keys to a new property owner after a sale), you will want to archive the keyring details in Keyzapp and remove the smart fob, unassigning it so that it can be reused on a new keyring when required.
