SMS Text Messaging Billing and Allowances

SMS Text Messaging Billing and Allowances

Monthly Allowances

Some of our subscriptions provide a monthly allowance of SMS messages that resets every month.
  1. Professional Subscription: 100 SMS messages are included for free every month.
  2. Legacy Standard Subscription: 50 SMS are included for free every month.
These allowances reset at the start of every calendar month.  Once the allowance runs out messages are not sent, however, you can request more (see below).

Customers on our Basic Subscription are provided with 50 free one-off messages to test the service, and then can set up their own allowances if they wish, as per below.

Adding Additional Messages

Text message allowances can be increased in 2 ways:

Add additional monthly allowance

Messages can be added in blocks of 100 per month at a cost of £5 per month (5p per message).  This is available on all subscriptions.  Please contact support@keyzapp.com to set this up.

Add additional an additional bank of messages

A bank of messages is added only once, but these messages do not expire.  Messages are deducted from the bank after the free allowance is used.   A message bank can be purchased in blocks of 1000 messages for £50 each  (5p per message)Please contact support@keyzapp.com to set this up.

How the added bank of messages works
  1. If the business on the professional plan uses on average 4 messages a day, 100 free messages will nominally last 25 days.  SMS will stop sending once the allowance is used.  If there is 5 days left to the end of the month the business will need about 20 messages.  The message bank can be used to send these messages.
  2. If the message bank starts with 1000 messages and 20 messages are used it will be 980 messages.
  3. When the new month starts, 100 messages are added to the account, these messages are used in preference to the 980 in the bank.
  4. If the following month is busier, the allowance may be used by day 22, leaving 8 days until the next monthly allowance.  The monthly allowance is used up from day 22, so future messages will be taken from the bank.  If 32 messages were used up until the end of the month, 948  will be left in the bank when the next monthly allowance starts.

This approach results in the message allowance being topped up from the bank as required.

The drawback of using the bank approach is that people need to check and order new messages to stop them running out.
